Bowen work is a gentle, manual therapy that works on releasing the fascial planes in the body. The fascia is a web of interconnected fibers that wrap around all of our muscles, bones, joints, organs, etc, and promote smooth movement in the body. By releasing the fascia in certain areas, the body is put into a relaxing parasympathetic "rest and digest" state, which allows profound healing at a deep level. It also allows tissue relaxation over the fascial planes, which creates a lengthened stride, and pain relief.
